Sport, Exercise, and Health Services for All
New York City has one of the largest underserved populations in the country. Research shows that the proximity of a community-focused sport, exercise, and health research and practice center has a substantial impact on the health and well-being of community members, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those that require specialized services to engage and maintain general health. PEAK’s programs work to fulfill a clear need within the community through offering a variety of sport, exercise, and health services to children and adults.
The Center for Performance Excellence in Applied Kinesiology (PEAK) is a sport, exercise, and health facility situated within the School of Health Professions at Long Island University-Brooklyn (LIU-B). We provide individual and group sport, exercise, and performance (SEP) services to members of LIU-B as well as to sports teams, groups and exercisers in the NYC area. Also we work to promote community health and wellness through ongoing research and SEP related programs and initiatives that benefit the community.
