Colorism and Media Representations of Professional African American Women Athletes Study!

PEAKers shared their findings from the study titled: “The Relationship Between Colorist and Media Representations of Professional African American Women Athletes” at the 2016 Association for Applied Sport Psychology Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. This study examined differences in sports news reporting of African American women athletes of varying skin tones. Four students assisted with this research: Niteesa Brooks (Sport Science), Jardana Silburn (Social Work), Chloe Amardio (Athletic Training), and Rechelle Abalos (Sport Science).
